"Botticelli" is a cherished abode prepared by a mixed Italian-American couple of art historians and architects. It is a wonderful large designer apartment, comprising two double bedrooms, a large sitting room, a separate dining room, two bathrooms, and a spacious kitchen. The apartment is endowed with a large, most charming patio, and two balconies.

The Botticelli apartment is just after the arch bridging the two sides of the street.

In this scene, main character Frances searches among the famous craftsmen of the street (Via Cappellari means in Italian "Hat makers street").

The apartment is located in Via Capellari (above photos), in the Campo de' Fiori area. It is an intriguing, characteristic old Rome street, with little arches, craftsmen, decorators, and small art shops. The apartment is at the second floor off the street level (it would be at the third floor in the USA, in Europe it is considered second floor).

The unit is 200 square meters large (app. 220 square feet), it is utmost *silent*, and normally bright.

The palace is endowed with an elevator, although you need to climb a few steps because it stops halfway between the landings with the apartment doors. So to get to the apartment you need to first climb a few steps to take the elevator, then go two floors up, then walk half floor down to the apartment door.

The Botticelli apartment includes two double bedrooms, one with a double bed, and the second with twin beds. Both bedrooms are ample, furnished with taste, and well equipped. The twin beds room has an en-suite bathroom with shower box. The bathroom of the master bedroom is adjacent to the room, in the corridor of the apartment. It includes a bathtub with hand-held shower. An elegant door in the corridor can separate the master bedroom and its bathroom from the rest of the apartment.

After the entry door a spacious and rather long corridor brings to the various parts of the apartment.

(Right): the corridor of the apartment, just after the entry door.

As you can see, the corridor comprises two sections. The first is near the entry door, the second begins after the twin beds room. It is slightly higher than the first, and the pavement is different, as it is made of durmast wooden tiles.

The sitting room is very large (10 x 7,5 meters - app. 11 x 8 yards.). It has high-vault wooden beam ceilings (3 Mts. 10 Ft. high), and elegant wooden floor, of durmast wood.

It includes a perfectly large working fireplace (a rarity in Rome's centre), giving joy and warmth to the entire apartment. It is furnished with antiques, and in includes an upright (cabinet) piano.

The large window of the sitting room, together with the windows of the twin bedded room and of the kitchen, face an old court, with a simple and characteristic 17th century popular Roman house, with arch and stairs (please visit the detailed sitting room page to see it).

(right): Sitting room - opposite view

The sitting room has three doors, having the shape of arches. As you can see in the above photo, from right to left they lead respectively to the kitchen, to the dining room, and to the main corridor of the apartment.

The dining room has a large table to dine, with chairs for six, and also two large bookshelves covering two walls. There is also a large sofa.

(right): The dining room

The dining room also leads to the patio of the unit, which is appr. 20 square meters (200 sq. feet).

The dining room, seen from a different angle

The patio faces the palace of the Venerable English College, the most ancient English institution abroad (dating back to the 13th century AD).

The patio is generously endowed with plants and flowers.

The most beautiful, is a bougainvillea, with cascading branches, festooned with turquoise flowers, which is spectacular in summmertime. You find also orage and lemon trees, flowers and other plants.

The opposite view of the patio allows you to see the apartment, the palace and the immediately neighboring palaces. The first room in the forefront is the dining room.

A fine treat of the patio is that every hour the melodious bells of the Venerable English College softly strike the hours. The bells will be a gracious company during your meals "al fresco".
The College, the most ancient English institution abroad, is a Catholic seminary, and it is extremely quiet.

The kitchen is rather large (by old Rome's standards).

It includes all the normal appliances (fridge, freezer, dishwasher), Italian coffee pots and American coffee percolator, cupboards and cooking pottery and utensils.

The kithen is endowed with two windows. One faces the above mentioned patio (what you see on the sink is not a painting, but the view of the bougainvillea plant from this window). The second faces an internal court of the palace.

The kitchen is also endowed with a small yet cozy balcony, facing the above mentioned old court of the palace (please visit the specific page with photos of the kitchen to see it).

The kitchen has also two doors: one to the dining room, and another to the sitting room.

The master bedroom is simple, yet elegant.

The master bedroom

(right): the balcony of this room

The master bedroom is endowed with a king size bed, a large built-in wardrobe, bedside tables with their lamps, an old-fashioned chest of drawers, a long chestnut table and fine carpets. A 37 LCD Sony color TV completes the equipment.

The master bedroom has a little balcony also facing the Venerable English College. As you can see, in spring and in summer the flowers of the large bougainvillea plant separating the apartment from the English College adorn the room.

The immaculate master bathroom of the apartment is very near this room. It was recently renovated, and it is panelled with a variant of Roman travertine marble, with salmon color nuances. Please visit the internal page presenting the master bedroom to see it.

The twin beds room is well appointed, and it is adequately large (6 Mts. x 3.5 Mts.). It includes two beds, a chest of drawers, a built-in closet (visible in the presentation of this page), a book case, a wooden desk, fine lamps and beautiful paintings.

This room has an en-suite bathroom, with shower box, please visit the internal page to see it.
