"When in Rome, do as the Romans do". Yet can you think of anything better than doing it... in a top floor apartment with two most panoramic terraces, with views of old Rome's roofs and of its domes, dining "al fresco" or sipping your "Limoncello" amidst lemon trees, blissfully relaxing in an intriguing property, situated in a quintessential Roman "palazzo" facing a quiet square, and endowed with Rome's most charming fountain, the Tortoise fountain?

The spacious first terrace of the apartment

The treats are not over. You will be welcomed in most cases by the owner of the palace, belonging to one of the most ancient patrician families in town, who will also have a bottle of wine and fresh fruit for you. Should you want, he will tour you in the quarter, solely out of hospitality. Moreover, the apartment is cleaned every day (it rarely occurs in Rome's rentals).

What can be more blissful than a breakfast "al fresco" with view of old Rome's domes and roofs? The lemon trees and the flowers add a Mediterranean touch.

Notice the services (cups, jugs, sugar bowl etc.), marked with the coat of arms of the patrician family owning the palace since many centuries.

Last and definitely not least the property is attractive in its own right. It includes a dining room adjoining a spacious open plan kitchen, an ample sitting room with foyer (including also a comfortable sofa bed sleeping a fifth person), two double bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and an ample corridor. The layout of the apartment, set in two different levels, gives it personality.

Yet naturally the highlight of the apartment are the two panoramic terraces, each endowed with different views and feels.

Higher terrace of the Rome Domes apartment
The superior terrace of the attic, with view of most Rome's domes.

While the lower terrace, as mentioned, is best suited to have meals outdoors, or to chat with a glass of wine, the higher one is best suited to be mesmerised by Rome's domes and sights. It's fun to single out the domes and the sights, and then go out to visit them - something unthinkable in a hotel room.

The property is furnished and prepared with taste. To add a personal touch, the proprietors endowed it with some fine family objects, for example two 19th century kneeling-stools and old prints.

You will discover intriguing spots and features gradually as you will stay in this property. Perhaps one day you will realize all the efforts the family underwent over the centuries to build the palace, as you will discover detail after detail all its fine aspects.

Or perhaps while walking in your bedroom, or lying in bed, the view of Rome's domes from the window will inspire you, bringing you back in time - and wondering how nice it would be to have the same view from your own bedroom at home.

Window view. Rome's domes appear also when you walk in the room, or also when you lie in bed. You will see the domes larger and closer than they appear in this photo (as wide angles were used).
