Via dei Greci, very near the Spanish Steps,
owes its name by the premises built by Pope Gregorius
XIII (13th). He founded in fact a college and and the
adjacent church of St. Atanasius for the Greek Catholics
of Oriental Rite (an order with many traditions in common
with the Orthodox). The distinctive feature of the church
is its layout, with a large nave, and a transept ending
with three apses. The church and the college are united
by means of a vaulted corridor, as you can see in the
right photo. On the left side of the street at the beginning
you find the palace of the Tadolini, a family of scuptors.
Interespersed with antiques shops, in the street you also
find the Lyon Bookshop, the oldest English bookshop in
town, and also the musical academy of St. Cecilia, the
most famous in Rome. The quiet little street, where only
pedestrians are allowed, ends on Via del Corso. |

"Contessa" introduces you in a bright atmosphere
of elegance, quiet, space, and attention to detail and
to taste. It is situated in one of the few perfectly renovated
and "signorile" (mannerly) palaces near the
Spanish Steps. The palace has two entrances (one with
concierge), and also an internal court. The apartment
is situated at the third European floor (4th in the USA),
and has *elevator*. If you want to live in Rome like a
Contessa... this is the place for you. |

After the front door you find a very mannerly foyer. As it occurs
in all the property, you find here an elegant furniture, a mirror,
and an old-fashioned clock. As you can see as soon as you step
in the apt., there is wooden floor in all the property (a very
tasteful "Iroko" type). From the foyer you access
on one side (left) to the bedrooms/bathrooms area. The door
in front of you leads to the ample storage room (and possibly
to the kitchen thereafter), while the door to right introduces
to dining room, and thus to the spacious sitting room.

The ample dining room is furnished with taste. The most important
furnitures are a table with chairs for five persons, and a large
most elegant chest of drawers with mirror. They are made of
Italian cherry wood. You also findpaintings of old masters,
plants, a Persian carpet, and a trolley. The dining room has
an own large balcony, shared with the kitchen. From the dining
room one enters: the kitchen (to the left), and the sitting
room (to the right).

The sitting room is very ample (7x5 meters appr. 35 sq.
Mts. appr. 350 sq. Ft.). The light coming from three large
windows displayes the attention of the proprietors to detail
while choosing the furniture and the fittings. You find
three sofas, two armchairs and chairs upholstered with velvet,
two cherry-wood tables, a nut-wood 18th century consolle
complete with mirror, and an 18th century cherry wood desk
with chair, three small fine tables with abat-jours (table
lamps). You also find paintings of famous masters, a large
book case, two Persian carpets, and a wooden cupboard. You
also find tasteful and well assorted furnishings (hand-painted
vases, silver boxes for candies, old fashioned candlesticks,
fine old chinaware, interesting fine books and reviews.
The room is also equipped with a large colour TV with satellite
dish to see American, European and international channels,
with a stereo (with CD player, many CDs are also left by
the trustful proprietors), and - like all the property -
with air conditioning, supplied by means of a internal blower
with silent external engine. Naturally, you find also the
radiators of the heating system.
